It was a pretty easy weekend for Missoula, beating the Seattle Totems by a combined score of 19-4 over two games on Friday and Saturday.
The sixth place Totems stunned the Maulers when they somehow scored a goal on Noah Parker, though there was no points for prettiness and it just trickled between his legs, as long as it crosses that line its even. That turned out to the only time a puck would cross Parkers crease that night, saving 24 of the next 24 shots.
Adam Alfoldy was credited with the goal just after his team had to kill off a penalty for him after he got caught hooking, Alfoldy redeemed himself and his team owes him for the only lead they had over the entire weekend, though it didn't last long.
Sander Mjolnerod got the crowd on their feet when he tied the game up five minutes later. Sawyer Jacobson then scored what would turn out to be the game winner for Missoula off a feed from lines-mate Corey Schafer and three year Mauler, Tyler Zandhuisen. Mjolnerod added another goal for Missoula just before the period ended and that gave Jacobson, who tallied an assist, his second point in three minutes.
After the start of the second period it was a wave of Russian domination when Andrei Shebelbain opened up the scoring, notching his first of three on the night, Alex Shalamov got in on the action just 18 seconds later and Shebelbain closed the period with another tally on his name, with some help from Hanson on both goals.
Dispite having four power play opportunities in the third period, Missoula was not able to capitalize on any of the man advantages but that didn't stop a hatty hungry Shebelbain, who netted his third just three minutes into the period. Angus Campbell, who was in net for the Totems managed to stop 50 out of 57 shots he faced that night, a save percentage of 87% while Zoo goalie, Noah Parker was solid at 96%.
The three stars of the night were Domantas Cypas, who only gathered one assist in the game but played a key role in killing off the two minor penalties Missoula had and being a defensive force on the ice during plays, Sander Mjolnerod, who grabbed two goals in the first period and of course Andrei Shebelbain who scored was credited with nearly half the goals scored for ZooTown on Friday.
